God's will for humanity

With all the mess in the human family God’s intentions have not changed. What is God’s will for humanity?

Eph 1:9…. the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,
Eph 1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him.

There it is folks- God’s will and good pleasure is to gather together in one all things IN CHRIST.
Now if you have been a church person you would have picked up the official church meaning of all things in one in Christ.
The official way to read that verse above is that all things means all Christians. So that only all Christians are gathered in one in Christ…those in heaven and those on the earth.
I fully agree!!
But if you think that the majority of people that have ever lived will not become believers in Jesus Christ then you need to seek the Lord about it. For Paul is telling us that ALL things–all people shall be gathered together in one, in Christ, in the fullness of times.
Is Jesus LORD of all people? Yes…but have they all submitted to His Lordship? No.

Heb 2:5 For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.
Heb 2:6 But one testified in a certain place, saying: “WHAT IS MAN THAT YOU ARE MINDFUL OF HIM, OR THE SON OF MAN THAT YOU TAKE CARE OF HIM?
Heb 2:7 YOU HAVE MADE HIM A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS; YOU HAVE CROWNED HIM WITH GLORY AND HONOR, AND SET HIM OVER THE WORKS OF YOUR HANDS.
Heb 2:8 YOU HAVE PUT ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.
Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.
Heb 2:10 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

But now we do not yet see all things put under Him.
Time is all it takes…and God has plenty of that to eventually bring all things/all people into submission to Jesus.
The thing is–Are you submitted to the Lord Jesus your self?

This is no doubt a new idea for you my reader.
You have believed what your pastors tell you and parents and friends haven’t you? Sinners go to endless torment in the lake of fire for ever and ever right? The answer to that question is complex–the short answer is NO!!
For the moment just look at what this passage is saying.
God has put all things under Jesus.
Here is the KJV with Strongs numbers-

Heb 2:7 Thou madestG1642 himG846 a little lowerG5100 G1024 thanG3844 the angels;G32 thou crownedstG4737 himG846 with gloryG1391 andG2532 honour,G5092 andG2532 didst setG2525 himG846 overG1909 theG3588 worksG2041 of thyG4675 hands:G5495
Heb 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjectionG5293 G3956 underG5270 hisG846 feet.G4228 ForG1063 in that he put all in subjection underG5293 G3956 him,G846 he leftG863 nothingG3762 that is not put underG506 him.G846 ButG1161 nowG3568 we seeG3708 not yetG3768 all thingsG3956 put underG5293 him.G846

The first thing to see is that Paul- who I believe wrote Hebrews – is using psalm 8 to refer specifically to Christ Jesus…not generally to all mankind though that is valid as well. Jesus is the Last Adam. Just as Adam was given dominion over all the works of God’s hands , so Christ was given that dominion as well.
The main points in the passage are that:

1./ Man or Christ has been set over the works of God’s hands.
2./ God has put all things in subjection under man’s(Jesus) feet
3. He put all in subjection under him…Man or Jesus.
4./ God left out nothing that is not put under man/Jesus.
5./BUT!!! Now we do not yet see all things put under him- man – Jesus.

In point 4 God uses the term, nothing to describe what all things means.

Not even one (man, woman or thing), that is, none, nobody, nothing:
So God has put every woman and every man into subjection to Christ….how? By lifting Christ up above every other name. Jesus has ascended far above all things even as he descended first. God has given Him the name above every name.

Php 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Php 2:9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

This demonstrates the truth Paul wrote about in Hebrews 2–That all things, including all people –no one left out – have all been made subject to Christ Jesus.
But the main point of Hebrews 2 is to tell us that NOW…NOW!!! In this present age of time…we do not yet see All people subject to Jesus. The fact that Paul says now and then not yet- indicates to us that there will come a day when all those God put Christ OVER shall submit to Him. It also points to the gentleness of God. God does not force us to believe in Jesus against our will.

The day will come for each person ever concieved when…Php 2:10 … at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Php 2:11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

This is what God has sworn will happen with an oath – which He cannot break and it must happen or He is a liar.

Isa 45:21b “…And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me.”
Isa 45:22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.
Isa 45:23 I have sworn by Myself; The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness, And shall not return, That to Me every knee shall bow, Every tongue shall take an oath.
Isa 45:24 He shall say, ‘Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength. To Him men shall come, And all shall be ashamed Who are incensed against Him.
Isa 45:25 In the LORD all the descendants of Israel Shall be justified, and shall glory.’ “

So you see that God has sworn/promised that every single human being shall confess Jesus as their own personal Lord and Saviour and be saved. That is what glorifies the Father–not going to an endless lost eternity!
But, but!?
Yes I know I know  my friend…what about what the Bible says elsewhere? Like I said, it is complex! But if you are patient and want to be given hope and the Good News then seek the Lord Jesus yourself.
If all people–“all you ends of the earth”– do not indeed one day bow their knee and confess that Jesus is LORD –confessing that in HIM ALONE THEY HAVE RIGHTEOUSNESS AND STRENGTH–ie – saved by grace through faith alone- then God has failed to keep His promise which HE SWORE BY HIMSELF TO KEEP.
Remember Jesus said:  If I be lifted up I will draw ALL MEN to myself.Jn 12:32
Do you believe that?
The Father is searching and searching for that one lost coin and that one lost sheep and that lost son or daughter. He searches UNTIL HE FINDS IT. Luke 15
God is not satisfied until all are found–NONE shall be left behind.
