Under the Law if a man digs a pit and does not cover it to make it safe, and an ox falls into it and is injured or dies that man must “make it good.” In other words that man is responsible to restore what he caused to happen. He went to sleep that night and every night knowing that he had dug a pit and someone or someone’s property could fall into it…yet he let it happen. He is now obligated by the Law to make it good.
Ex 21:33 “And if a man opens a pit, or if a man digs a pit and does not cover it, and an ox or a donkey falls in it, 34 the owner of the pit shall make it good; he shall give money to their owner, but the dead animal shall be his.
God does not break His own Law. And Paul tells us that the Law is spiritual.(Rom 7:14) Thus we can see the spiritual meaning and application.
God placed his own property into the garden in Eden knowing that the Serpent would be there and that the Serpent would deceive them, knowing that they would fall. In a very real sense God had dug a pit and did nothing to cover it over. God deliberately involved Himself in Mankind’s fall to PUT HIMSELF UNDER OBLIGATION to “make it good” one day..
Of course sending Jesus to die for us was the first part of God making good what He had a part in causing. The final part is when we are all restored to Him and all have put on immortality.
God speaks about this also in Romans 8 when He says…
Romans 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. 19 For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; 21 because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.
Please realise or at least consider that the phrase “the creation” is not only speaking of the animal kingdom and the plant kingdom…but includes and primarily speaks about MANKIND!! It is Mankind that has an earnest expectation of deliverance from the futility of an existence without hope. It is mankind that shall be delivered –the whole creation groans–every single human heart is crying out to God to save them–and God is under obligation to do just that–and He is and will do it—for ALL CREATION!! Hallelujah!!
The odd thing is that I wrote this today on my Facebook page– being the 18th August 2018. Okay so what? In the post I used Romans 8:18 and a little later I read somone’s post who told the story of two saints who died for their faith in Flanders 100’s of years ago. One of them stood firm upon that verse.
Rom 8:18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Just a coincidence? I think it is a little prophetic alert. It is nearly time for the sons of God to be made manifest and to set creation free from the bondage of decay. But in that same time many will suffer for their faith who have not previously had to. That is to say that those believers in the west are soon to be tried by the fire.
Stand firm in Christ Jesus and look not to the world to confirm your words, but stand upon my anointing and look fear in the eye and declare those things that He has put in your heart and mouth to say. For God shall not fail you even though it looks like He does. Fear not–fear not – fear not! I am coming to fill my house with glory says the Lord.
These are the days, these are the days, these are days!! Be joyful in what I create for I create Jerusalem in the hearts and lives of my people–rejoice and be glad in it.
