Accusations: Don’t listen to them
Posted On April 25, 2017
If you believe in a God that you imagine is always accusing you of falling short of Him then you yourself will live under accusations constantly.
You will accuse yourself of not being holy enough, not righteous enough….which then causes you to want to do all you can to be more holy for this God you imagine is only happy with you if you do this.
A pastor in Uganda I preached with years ago confided in me one day several years after I left there the reason why he goes to neighbouring nations to preach the gospel.
He told me that God said to him that if he does not go to preach to them He will kill his only son Joshua, then a little 2 year old baby.
To me this is horrible. I would run a million miles from such a God and keep running. Talk about blackmail!!
I said to my Ugandan pastor friend, “What would the message be that you are going to bring to those people?”
Come to God or else! God loves you but if you deny Him he will kill your children.
Everything you say and do will come forth from the fear of God’s threats of judgement. That is where almost all Christians live. Under the fear of an angry tyrannical God.
Tell me you who think that this fearful, demanding, blackmailing God is the real deal….
Do your children come visit you because they are afraid of what will happen to them if they don’t?
Are you driven by accusation and fear? Or are you in love with God. You cannot have both for perfect love casts out all fear, even the fear of God. Fear involves torment brethren…and God is NOT INTO TORMENTING ANYONE…instead He, being love in person DRIVES OUT ALL FEAR from your life.
1Jn 4:15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.
1Jn 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.
1Jn 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.
John says it plainly –The GRACE of God is the gospel, the good news for every heart in all the world. Simply CONFESS JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD. That’s it. Confess Jesus is the son of God…and God abides in you and you in God. Saved by grace. Saved by faith. Saved by union with God in Jesus. NOT SAVED THROUGH OBEDIENCE TO LAWS!!
Paul said the same in Romans 10 didn’t he. John spent years fellow-shipping in the churches planted and established on Paul’s gospel.
Rom 10:6 But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, ‘WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down from above)
Rom 10:7 or, ” ‘WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
Rom 10:8 But what does it say? “THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART” (that is, the word of faith which we preach):
Rom 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, “WHOEVER BELIEVES ON HIM WILL NOT BE PUT TO SHAME.”
“That is, the word of faith which we preach”..said Paul. But most preachers do not preach what Paul preached. Instead they bring people under condemnation and fear.
Through believing in Jesus we are abiding in God and He in us. This is where we live as Christians. We have been placed into Christ into God…and God is in Jesus in us. (See John 14:20 and John 17:11. 21-24) We have been brought into perfect union in Jesus in God. ONE. We are saved by His life being now our own life. Being saved is not dying and going to heaven. Being saved is being one with God in Jesus now while we live.
This passage below speaks straight into the face of the Accuser and says “AS HE IS SO ARE WE IN THIS WORLD!”
1Jn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.
1Jn 4:19 We love Him because He first loved us.
The spirit of accusation over the church and all through the world is based in old covenant theology and serpentine ideas about God.
The reality for you and me is right here in what John is saying—if you have ears to hear it.
These are ABSOLUTES.
There is NO fear in love
If you have any fear, any at all, even the fear of God, you are not made mature in love yet. That means you still listen to the voice of the accuser telling you that you fall short of God’s glory. You still strive under law to please this un-pleasable God. I say un-pleasable because NO MAN IS(OR EVER WILL BE) JUSTIFIED IN GOD’S SIGHT BY THE DEEDS OF THE LAW!!
As long as you keep trying to be justified and win god-points by doing things for God you set aside the grace of God and open yourself to more accusation and condemnation…which in turn drives you to do more and try harder. It is a treadmill of religion that will drive you mad in the end. God is standing to the side of that treadmill saying “Here I am, here I am”…to a people who cannot hear Him…who instead want desperately to please Him by their own efforts.
The reason we do not hear is
“…that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
Rom 10:3 For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.
Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Most of the body of Christ fit right in with this passage about Paul’s countrymen, the religious Jews.
Our zeal for God is based upon traditions and teachings that promote our responsibility to perform for God. The revelation given to Paul is not understood even today. The zeal of God performs all things…not the old creation trying to obey God. John said we love God because He FIRST LOVED US. This is what we fail to understand. God performs all that He wants done. Yes He does it through us…but He is not sitting up there in a heaven somewhere expecting us to get our act together and love people. God is in us as our ONLY LIFE.
The church is ignorant of God’s righteousness and is seeking to establish it’s own righteousness. We have not submitted to His righteousness.
God’s righteousness is union THROUGH FAITH in Jesus Christ the Righteous One.
Perfect love casts out all fear
Only God is perfect love. When we know that God is our only life, our only nature, …that we are love, we are as HE IS…then all fear that tries to capture us vanishes away, loses it’s grip and is cast out.
The fact that John uses the term cast out tells us that fear is NOT SOMETHING GOD WANTS US TO HAVE. Fear involves torment.
Love is always setting others free from itself. Love is never thinking of its own interests as better than some one else’s interests. Love does not force anyone to listen, to believe, to come to it, to do anything!! But the god that most Christians believe in is a god that forces you to believe and do many things for him based upon fear of displeasing this god.
Love says you are better than I am. God is Love. God thinks you are better than He is. Does that sound like the god your church preaches about? Not from my experience. The god in the churches is far above anyone else and looks down upon us from afar. He is waiting for us to repent all the time. He withholds blessing from us because we do not do the right things all the time. He is a strict overbearing person who does nothing to help us and then judges us and scares us with threats of eternal damnation for failing to be perfect. You can have such a god. I call that god-Lucifer!!
Fear involves torment
Another absolute. Fear involves torment…even the so called fear of God. Love casts out ALL FEAR.
Just preach the law and see the fear meter ratchet up. Who can attain such heights? Jesus said unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Scribes and Pharisees you shall by no mean enter the Kingdom of heaven.Mtt 5:20 But what righteousness do we have in and of ourselves Lord? NONE!!
This is what Paul was saying when he said we have not submitted to the righteousness of God but are seeking to establish our own righteousness. Rom 10:3
Paul also said…
Php 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
Php 3:9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
Php 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
Php 3:11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.
All of Paul’s previous efforts at being a very righteous man according to the law he gladly let go of. Not just his previous life as a Pharisee but also his early days as a Christian when he still kept trying to be good for God. He let go of it all–all self effort to be righteous. He found that he was a very covetous man and tried to stop being covetous. But all that did was increase his lusts.
Rom 7:8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead.
If you want sin to be alive in your life experience–just try to please God by doing things for him…and trying to not do bad things. Your very efforts at doing good and not doing bad is LAW…and when Law rules sin comes alive and dominates you.
Paul discovered and wants us to know that we died with Jesus and are raised up in Jesus as one person together, person inside of person. We live unto God now free from the old man, free from the Law over us. We are in His son and are counted as the righteousness of God in Him BY FAITH ALONE!!
The moment we go back to looking at ourselves as the one who is alone and responsible to please God by doing…we set up the treadmill of religion around ourselves. The one Christ has made free now goes back to being a slave to sin and the Law.
The Accuser loves all this for it is his realm of understanding. He will push you to obey and condemn you for failing. He will pretend to be God speaking to you to do this and do that for him….only to condemn you for not doing it well enough. Torment. This is Christian Hades. In fact the sinner who is oblivious to God is better off than the tormented God-fearing Christian. The God fearing Christian never rests for he is not sure whether he is pleasing enough to God. The threats of eternal hell fire snap at his heels and keep him running for god.
You see it in the Pharisees.
Joh 7:14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and taught.
Joh 7:15 And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
The Jews were amazed at Jesus. They were offended that He had never studied like they had under certain wise men.
Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me.
Joh 7:17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority.
Joh 7:18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.
Jesus makes it plain here. His teaching and understanding were given to Him by the Father. He did not learn it from men via his intellect. He contrasts ‘from God’ with ‘my own authority’. He then contrasts speaking ‘from ones self’ and ‘speaking from God’. Seeking ones ‘own glory’ and ‘seeking the glory of God’.
The truth is there is no own self or own glory or own words any more. Jesus modelled for us the union life that we too are living in Him NOW. We died…that old self story which thought it could do things for God and not do bad things against God. We really did die. Now we and Jesus are one, and the things we do we do with Him. The things we say we say with Him.
Then Jesus reveals to them that NOT ONE OF THE PHARISEES WERE KEEPING THE LAW. NOT ONE!!
Joh 7:19 Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? Why do you seek to kill Me?”
You see, if you fail to keep one little law you have failed to keep the Law. The Law is a heavy yoke of bondage that neither we nor our fathers were able to bear(Acts 15). So what is the answer, throw away the Law? No!! The Law has it’s purpose, which is to let us know we are sinners. After that we come to God through Jesus and rest entirely in Him in us, with us, to be all the righteousness we will ever need and be.
The moment you confess Jesus as your only righteousness the Accuser will start harassing you with threats of not good enough…sinner…look what you just did…you should do this…you should not do that…and on and on. Just keep confessing Jesus is the ONLY righteousness that you need. If you have Jesus you HAVE LIFE! PERIOD.
God sure will destroy the false accusation over America. It will be through the Church finally getting free from the bewitching that has bewitched it since Paul wrote to the Galatians.
Gal 3:1 O foolish Americans! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?
Gal 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—
Gal 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
